A cultivar is described as a plant that is cultivated to have different characteristics. For example, think about varieties of apples. Honeycrisp apples don’t just grow naturally, they were created with a cultivar. “Cultivar” is short for “cultivated variety”, meaning a plant that’s been selected and improved upon by humans. A strain, on the other hand, refers to a subtype in a microorganism. Think of it as a strain for certain illnesses. The biggest difference between these two terms? Cultivars relate to plants, strains do not.
Creating cultivars from a seed isn’t all that simple. Breeders and growers need to go through a multi-step process to ensure there is stable offspring. At Diesel, we grow and harvest our own plants to ensure you are getting the best product possible. Additionally, we use a female plant in our growing process because of its powerful nature and cannabinoid production.
We know you’re wondering, what else is out there? What inspires you? Like cultivars, we want to create new things, consistently improve, and be unique. We’ll do whatever it takes to ensure you’re getting the best hemp experience out there. Share what inspires you on our social media channels @dieselhemp.
