CBD Flower: Exclusive Proprietary Strains You Won't Find Anywhere Else

Most CBD flower brands sell the same strains you can find on a dozen other sites. At Diesel Hemp, we took a different path — every strain in this collection is a cultivar we bred in-house, and none of them are sold by anyone else.

  • 9Proprietary cultivars
  • From $8Entry price
  • 0%Sold by anyone else
  • Every lotThird-party tested

These aren't bulk strains bought off a broker and rebranded. They were developed over years of genetics work and phenotype hunting on our own Colorado farm, from a foundation we built ourselves. If you like one of them, this is the only place to get it.

What Is CBD Flower?

CBD flower is the harvested bud of the hemp plant, bred to contain high levels of cannabidiol (CBD) and less than 0.3% delta-9 THC. Under the 2018 Farm Bill, that legal threshold is what distinguishes hemp flower from marijuana. It looks, smells, and smokes like cannabis — with rich terpene profiles and smooth smoke — minus the significant psychoactive high.

The plant is the same species. The difference is what it was bred to produce. High-CBD genetics push the plant toward cannabidiol and away from THC, which is why you can smoke a whole joint of it and stay completely clear-headed.

How Much CBD Is in CBD Flower?

Quality CBD flower generally tests between 12% and 20% total CBD. That percentage is the number worth reading off a Certificate of Analysis, not off a product headline.

Converting it to milligrams is what makes it useful. A gram of flower is 1,000 milligrams of material, so:

  • 15% CBD = roughly 150 mg of CBD per gram
  • 18% CBD = roughly 180 mg of CBD per gram
  • An eighth (3.5g) at 16% = roughly 560 mg in the bag

For scale, a typical CBD capsule or gummy is 20–25 mg. A single gram of flower carries several times that — though you don't absorb all of it, since combustion destroys some and inhaled cannabinoids behave differently than swallowed ones. That's why flower comes on in minutes instead of an hour, and why it fades faster too.

Does CBD Flower Get You High? Do You Feel a Buzz?

No — not in the THC sense. CBD doesn't bind strongly to the CB1 receptors in your brain the way THC does, so there's no intoxication, no time distortion, no paranoia.

But "no high" isn't the same as "no effect," and people who say CBD flower does nothing are usually expecting the wrong thing. What most users report is a physical settling — shoulders drop, breathing slows, background tension eases — without any change to how clearly you think. You stay sharp and functional. Whether that registers as a "buzz" depends on what you're comparing it to.

Onset is a few minutes when smoked, with effects running one to two hours.

Is CBD Flower Worth Smoking?

Straight answer: it depends entirely on what you want from it, and plenty of people buy it for the wrong reason and end up disappointed.

It's worth it if you like the ritual — rolling, the terpenes, the smoke — but don't want to be impaired. It's worth it if you're trying to cut back on THC without giving up the habit, or if you want something you can smoke at 2pm on a workday. It's worth it if you care about flavor, because high-CBD genetics can carry terpene profiles every bit as loud as high-THC ones.

It's not worth it if you're chasing a high — you won't find one, and no amount of smoking more will produce it. It's also not the most efficient way to take CBD if you only care about the cannabinoid: a tincture or soft gel delivers more per dollar with none of the smoke.

The honest summary is that CBD flower is a smoking product first and a CBD product second. Buy it because you want to smoke something.

Why Diesel Hemp CBD Flower Is Different

Every strain here is a Diesel Hemp™ proprietary cultivar — our team bred it, selected it, and refined it in-house over multiple growing seasons.

  • We bred the geneticsThe foundation is the Abacus™ lineage, our original cultivar from a cross of OG Kush and Purple Urkle, which brings true cannabis aroma to federally legal hemp.
  • Nobody else has themThese aren't strains in circulation. If you want Spec7 or Garlic Breath, this is the only place they exist.
  • We grow what we sellColorado farm, our own harvests, with a COA published for every batch.

Read the full profile on Abacus Diesel in our Encyclopedia if you want the genetics story in detail.

What Should CBD Flower Cost?

CBD flower pricing spans a wider range than almost any hemp product, and the spread is mostly about how it was grown and trimmed.

What you're buyingTypical priceWhat it usually means
Sample / single gram$8–12Try a strain before committing
Eighth (3.5g)$17–35Indoor or hand-trimmed light-dep
Ounce (28g)$55–99Where the per-gram value is
"$100 a pound" bulkUnder $1/gOutdoor biomass, machine-trimmed, often old

Ours start at $8 for a single gram — deliberately, because these are strains you can't sample anywhere else and asking someone to buy an ounce of something they've never smelled is a bad deal for them.

The cheapest CBD flower on the market is biomass sold by the pound for extraction, not for smoking. It's real hemp and it's honestly priced for what it is; it just won't taste like anything.

How to Use CBD Flower

Smoking

Rolling papers, a pipe, or a bong. Effects start within a few minutes and last 1–2 hours. Grind it first for a more even burn. Don't want to roll? Our CBD pre-rolls use the same proprietary strains.

Vaping

A dry herb vaporizer heats flower without combustion — better terpene expression, smoother on the lungs. Recommended range: 350–390°F. Start low for flavor, higher for effect.

Edibles

Decarboxylate first (240°F for 30–40 minutes), then infuse into butter or oil. Effects take 30 minutes to 2 hours but last significantly longer than smoking. If you'd rather skip the kitchen, our CBD gummies are dosed at 20mg each.

Buying CBD Flower in Bulk or by the Pound

Shops, extractors and white-label brands buy CBD flower by the pound, and we sell it that way — direct from the farm, with batch-specific COAs and genetics you can't source anywhere else, which matters if you're building a product line you don't want copied.

Minimum order quantities, price tiers and lead times depend on the product and volume. Submit a wholesale application and we'll send current pricing.

Is CBD Flower Legal?

Yes. Under the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp-derived products with less than 0.3% delta-9 THC are federally legal, and the USDA Domestic Hemp Production Program sets the framework growers operate under. All Diesel Hemp CBD flower is third-party lab tested and compliant.

State laws vary, and a few states restrict smokable hemp specifically even though the cannabinoid itself is legal. Check your local regulations before ordering — we don't ship where we can't ship.

Will CBD Flower Make You Fail a Drug Test?

Possibly, and this catches people out. CBD flower contains trace THC — under 0.3%, but not zero. With frequent use those metabolites can accumulate enough to trigger a positive, because the test screens for THC metabolites and doesn't care that the source was legal hemp.

If you're subject to testing for work or anything else that matters, don't smoke CBD flower. Project CBD has good research on how long metabolites persist.

How to Store CBD Flower

Airtight container, cool and dark, 58–62% relative humidity. Properly stored flower stays fresh for several months; finish an opened bag within 60 days for best flavor and potency. Light is the fastest way to degrade both cannabinoids and terpenes, so a clear jar on a windowsill is the worst thing you can do to good flower.

Red Flags When Buying CBD Flower

  • No COA, or one older than the harvest. A lab report that doesn't match the batch isn't a lab report.
  • No strain lineage or origin. Sellers who don't know the genetics didn't grow it.
  • Generic strains sold everywhere. If five sites have the same strain at the same price, none of them grew it.
  • Machine-trimmed or compressed buds. Trichomes knock off. Flavor goes with them.
  • No terpene profile listed. Terpenes are most of what you're buying.

Nine proprietary cultivars, bred on our own Colorado farm, sold by nobody else. Start with a single gram for $8 if you want to find your strain before committing.
